Health Starts In The Mind

February6

Monday I started my new workout scheme, also known as Insanity Training. See my other post about the method, which bassically boils down to maximum interval training. Something kept me from doing it, but this week I finally started with solid determination, which is quite a necessity if you want to stick to the schedule. So let me share about my experience of this first week of blood, sweat, and tears.

First off, it’s been nearly 2 years since I exercized on almost a daily basis. I’m not sure what happened, but somehow I couldn’t get myself to move my lazy ass, which is especially strange when you take into consideration that I’ve been doing sports since I was 5. Either way, I’m back on track now, and it feels amazing. The body starts releasing hormones, and you start feeling much stronger and energetic. It also gives your libido a boost, and in my case, it also really activates the alpha male inside, although I’m pretty sure that this will count for most men. Meaning that if you find yourself single and have a hard time attracting women, working out is definitely one of the first things you should start doing, just for the sake of creating the right mindset, apart from the obvious aesthetic benefits.

Insanity is not the same as going to a gym however. It takes less time, less money, and let’s not forget that fitness takes some careful planning and scheduling to make sure you’ll train your whole body, and to prevent injuries because of bad methods. Insanity is effective, efficient, and much more fun than lifting weights. The program comes with a PDF file about nutrition, so even if you’re completely new to all these things, you’ll be able to get a good idea of how to fuel your body through these intense months.

The first few days my body was in pain; my legs were like leaden lumps, desperately trying to keep the rest from collapsing to the floor. It sounds a bit more dramatic than it actually was, keep in mind that I’m a poet. After the first 3 days, I really felt an urge to take a day off, but I was determined to see it through. I reasoned that as long as I made up my mind, by body would have no choice but to adapt to the new situation eventually, and it did, much faster than I could’ve imagined! Already after the fourth day, the pain was getting less; my body was getting used to the intensity of the training.

This taught me an important lesson: Everything starts in the mind. So above so below, when you want something, it only takes time for it to manifest in the more dense dimensions, or as some people would call ‘the real world’. But there’s nothing unreal about those things we cannot directly perceive. The more determined you are, the faster you’ll reach your goals. Having this in mind, it would be a good idea to train this ability, in order to save yourself time. A higher focus means you can get more things done in a shorter amount of time. What I’m talking about is basically meditation.

A healthy mind in a healthy body. When we talk about health, people often mean the absence of disease, but this is a great misconception. Health is not the same as absence of disease. A disease is just a symptom of imbalance, which takes time to manifest in the body. This means that without disease, you can still be considered sick, or unhealthy. In this respect, Ayurveda has a much more truthful philosophy regarding health, than modern medicine does. We treat symptoms, instead of treating the core of the disease; the imbalance in the mind/body spectrum.

The body is a projection of the mind, meaning that our mind has a huge effect on the health of our body. In fact, an unhealthy mind is bound to generate an unhealthy body, and vice versa. I understand that some people, who are entangled in the ideas of conventional science, find it hard to accept such ideas. However, many studies have proven the obvious effects of placebo treatments. Secondly, the people who often survive serious diseases such as cancer, are those with a strong determination to live. What I’m saying is that the effect of the mind can’t be denied. I would also suggest that it’s quite stupid to judge anything that you can’t meausre as false, for most of the universe we cannot measure. Through such logic, you basically deny the majority of existence out there, and even inside yourself!

In the end, health is balance, and you have to work to sustain that balance. It’s far from a chore; it feels good and the benefits are invaluable. It is when we are sick when we start to appreciate health, because we tend to take it for granted. If you don’t take care of yourself, then it’s just a matter of time until the shit hits the fan. So take care of your body, make sure you eat properly, sleep well, and meditate to relax the mind. Right now, I’m gonna enjoy my day of rest, and relax in a hot bath.

I wish more people would write blogs like this that are really fun to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is rare to read a blog like this instead.
